Construction of the Cattle Barn started in 1860, and several improvements and additions were made over time. The original building was a 42 x 60 foot frame structure with stone walls on three sides and stables underground. In 1865, a root cellar was added, and the area surrounding the barn was fenced; a corn crib and hen house were added in 1871. An additional larger barn with a connecting passageway was built in 1873. Due to ongoing maintenance concerns and changes in agricultural instruction, the barn was approved for demolition in 1928.
