Historical Note:
Pope Cottage was built in 1877 by chemistry professor Thomas E. Pope on the south side of what is now Lincoln Way. Pope sold the property to the College in 1884. Professor Wynn had been renting Pope Cottage before the sale, and remained there through 1885. The two-story frame house included a basement and was gradually updated over the years, with plumbing and electricity installed in 1902 and a porch addition in 1924. In 1981, Pope Cottage was relocated to 3974 North Dakota Avenue, where it served as a residence hall before eventually being demolished to make way for a new home.
